Alignment

Caster/Camber Plates

The stock SN96 mustang only has camber plates.  Caster is only adjusted when camber is moved; caster cannot be adjusted by itself alone with the stock plates.  Camber is best described on how far the wheel tilt inwards or outwards.  For stock driving, 1 degree of negative camber is sufficient but for those who road race, more camber is generally desired.  Caster is harder to describe; it is the angle between the strut and the “true vertical.”  Take an imaginary line and draw it, cutting the tire in half.  Now look at the strut and make a line.  The degree between them (which will always be positive) is how much caster you have.  The only after market caster/camber plates worth looking at are the 4 bolt designs made by Steeda and Maximum Motorsports.  Caster Camber plates will add extra noise, vibrations and harshness when installed.  If you cannot deal with that and only want to make your alignment stock, or close to it, go to NAPA and buy an item called “camber bolts.”  They are about $30 or so and can be used to bring alignment back to stock.
